She’s STEM Foundation recently hosted a kick-off workshop for the SaWECO project, funded by Cargill and GWC, focusing on enhancing WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiatives.
Key outcomes include the proposal to merge all WASH committees into a single entity with 50% female leadership, and a commitment to volunteerism in key roles. The National Coordinator stressed the importance of community engagement, with site selection for construction needed by June 25, 2025, and WASH committee lists due by June 30, 2024.
Community representatives emphasized the need for collaboration and the activation of existing structures to ensure project success, while hygiene education was highlighted as vital for community health.
The workshop was attended by representatives from She’s STEM Foundation, Cargill(Telcar Cocoa), GWC, the Chiefs of Mandjock, Endengue, Sonke, Oveng, the mayors of Mvangan and Botmakaka, the sub-divisional officers of Mvangan and Botmakaka, the Presidents of Cocoa cooperatives, women leaders and other concerned groups from the respective committees.
