Between 2022 and 2023, She's STEM Foundation, in collaboration with the Delegation of Agriculture and Rural Development in Bokito, has made significant strides in empowering cocoa farmers across Baliama, Yangben, and Omende communities. Thanks to generous funding from Cargill and GWC, we successfully trained over 167 farmers on best practices for cocoa seedling planting and maintenance, paving the way for sustainable agricultural growth in these communities.
A key achievement of this initiative was the construction of a nursery with a capacity of 10,200 hybrid cocoa seedlings. This nursery serves as a vital resource for farmers in Omende, enabling them to access high-quality seedlings that are essential for boosting cocoa production.
With the support of Cargill and GWC, we have equipped these farmers with the knowledge and resources they need to enhance their crop yields and improve their livelihoods. The introduction of hybrid cocoa seedlings not only supports increased production but also promotes sustainability within the cocoa industry.
This training program represents a vital investment in the future of these communities. As farmers adopt new techniques and utilize high-quality seedlings, they can look forward to more robust harvests and improved economic stability.
Our solid partnership with Cargill and GWC underscores the importance of collaboration in driving meaningful change. Together, we are committed to fostering sustainable agricultural practices and supporting the livelihoods for farmers in rural areas of Cameroon.
At She's STEM Foundation, we believe that empowering farmers is key to building resilient communities. This initiative is just one of the many ways we are cultivating a brighter future for farmers in Baliama, Yangben, and Omende, demonstrating the impact we can achieve together with our valued partners.
